Microsoft looks at CoD: Cold War error that makes part game unplayable on Xbox

Microsoft says it is aware of an error that players on Xbox One and Xbox Series X may experience while playing Call of Duty Black Ops: Cold War. The mistake makes it impossible to play certain parts of the game

According to Microsoft, “some users” on Xbox One and Series X may face a so-called “Blackout Trial” error after making the most recent update to the game. Microsoft looks at the issue and promises to come out with more information later.

MEUree users report of the fact that they are getting a pop-up that says: Blackout has trial ended. It explains that they need to purchase the full game to access Blackout, Multiplayer and Zombie mode. The screen has the option to purchase the full version of the game, but it involves players who have already purchased Call of Duty Black Ops: Cold War. Players can’t get past this screen

Blackout is the name of the battle royale mode of Black Ops 4 from 2018. It therefore seems that this error message has something to do with code from that game that apparently also found its way into the current game, Call of Duty Black Ops: Cold War.

Call of Duty news site Charlie Intel writes there is a workaround for this matter. Players affected by this issue are advised to go to Manage Game & Add-Ons and then select Black Ops Cold War. It is necessary to check that all items for the game are checked and installed. After that, the game needs to be rebooted
